The Dobbs Ferry – Interactive, Immersive Water Attraction

Dobbs Ferry Interactive Boat Ride

Project Description

This journey begins in the middle of the 1870’s, but it ends somewhere in the future, the past and the present.
It’s as much a fact as it is a myth and a legend, and it’s all happening right now.
How’s that, you ask?

Well, it all starts with a brave young riverboat captain named Jeremiah Dobbs, his boat The Dobbs Ferry, The mighty Hudson River a group of merry travelers with a destiney of a night that would last forever, or at least until they finally reach the other side of their journey.

You see, Jeremiah Dobbs is said to have been 250 pounds of blue twisted steel, dark eyed and as mysterious as they come.
Folks say he kept pet racoons, read the future out of the stars in the sky and was told secrets by the Hudson River Herself.

The Dobbs Ferry is a grand vessel built not only ON the Hudson River, but mainly out of drift ashore parts and pieces coming OUT of the Hudson River.
An intricate weave of old and new, driftwood walls standing alongside rich mahogany furniture and crystal chandeliers, well heck, Mark Twain, Peter Pan or even Baron Von Munchausen could never have dreamed up a ship so marvelous, contrived and perfectly grand.

People would come from all over the world to simply cross the river on The Dobbs Ferry.
Celebrities, Simple Folk, the rich, the poor and Ol’ Jeremiah Dobbs would welcome them all aboard. Infamous parties were had with Live Music, Dancing, Drinks, Circus Arts, Live Stunts and more as the party would go on for hours.

BUT the curious thing is,…… crossing the river only took 10 mins. However, the passengers would always declare that they were onboard for hours and sometimes even days! For decades The Dobbs Ferry continued it’s 10 minute service across the Hudson River 4 times daily, and every trip across seemed to last longer and longer while onboard as a passenger.

That’s when it happened.

It was a foggy night at high tide on the brackish river, if it weren’t for the festive lights and live music coming from The Dobbs Ferry you wouldn’t have known that it was on it’s journey across the river. I, along with a crowd of waiting passengers were at it’s west dock waiting for my 1st ride on the famous ferry. We could hear it’s docking bells ringing, the band playing it’s grand finale and the famous call of “mark twain” to mark shallow waters near the dock. And then,…….. Nothing. Silence. Not even the riptide of the Hudson seemed to be present.

The Dobbs Ferry was Gone. Just Dissapeared. What had happened? Where had the ship Gone too? Where were it’s crew and the merry travelers? Where was Jeremiah Dobbs?

Some believe that The Dobbs Ferry had finally paid the price to cross the River Styxx. Others think that Jeremiah sailed it away to a secret city in between the stars and the river.

It’s said that the old west dock will every now and again, spark to life and live music and a docking bells can be heard. People say this is the moment to get your ticket for the ride of your life! Many people over the last years have been said to have gone missing because they “Caught The Ride on the Ol’ Dobbs Ferry”

Whatever this magic, it’s for sure something never forgotten by The Dobbs Ferry’s passengers. As for the whereabouts of Jeremiah Dobbs and The Dobbs Ferry, maybe we’ll be lucky enough to be together the next the Ol’ ferry decides to come out of the fog and cross that river once again.

Will it be at your next event?
