Barbie’s 60th Anniversary Pop-Up
Project Description
To commemorate her special day, Barbie released a series of Barbie 60th Anniversary Signature Collectibles and Career Dolls with dolls in careers including an astronaut, a firefighter, and a political candidate. As part of her celebratory pop-up shop experience in Soho, ARCH fabricated elements for the look back at 1965’s “Astronaut Barbie” who celebrated exploring new frontiers and encouraged little girls they could reach for the stars. Several hanging pastel-colored planets with glitter surfaces and an interactive diorama interior offered a peek into Barbie’s interplanetary adventures. Inside the large pink planet, girls could step into an outer space immersion—an LED starlit sky, rocket ship, moon rocks, lunar landscape surround, and a dangling solar system.
