Grand Seiko Heritage Collection Showcase

Custom-designed Set Design for Narcissister Performance Art

Project Description

For the NY showcase of Grand Seiko’s Heritage Collection, the ARCH team worked in conjunction with longtime partner Dynamic Productions to transform a Soho pop-up space into a rich visual exploration of The Nature of Time

Inspired by Japan’s magnificent season of spring and the fleeting beauty of the sakura and based on the ancient Japanese philosophy of mono no aware, or the awareness of impermanence and an appreciation for the beauty of ephemeral things, the four new timepieces celebrate Japan’s twenty-four sekki, the rays of the setting sun, that mark nature’s ever-changing seasons.

Our elaborate custom fabrication and installation included a 20′ blue bamboo wall with LED-lit, CNC-milled branding; intricate geometric soji blinds; a custom wooden lattice bar with distressed acrylic mirrored backing; a white acrylic lightbox with rotating 6′ cherry tree window display; various product platforms; foam-carved mushroom sconces; and a 30′ long bench with custom upholstered banquette seating.
