ARCH engineered, built, and installed a custom stage for the DMX’s Memorial held on April 24, 2021 at Barclays Center, Brooklyn. This “mission impossible” was started and completed within 72 hours—from design drawing and engineering drafts, to material orders and pick-ups, team collaboration planning, welding, packing, transit, installation, and breakdown.

All surfaces of our custom welded trapezoid-shaped stage and its rigged mirror-image canopy were wrapped in stretched fabric for projection mapping on all sides.

The memorial opened with video projection across both top and bottom surfaces of the staging in its stacked position. As choral voices began to echo through the space, the top canopy portion rose slowly to reveal a 60+ person choir + band.

ARCH has a long history of collaborations with Bang ON NYC and the Elements Festival, but the collaboration on the FIRE STAGE between Elements Founder Tim Monkowitz, ARCH, and Cory Glen with his team from ‘Experience Incendia’, is the largest and most epic installation of this partnership to date.

The 3D wave construction used in the arm fabrication was a large undertaking, masterfully executed through many hours of CNC time. The 8’ wide by 10’ tall by 3’ deep fire head was sculpted out of scrap metal mesh, and hand rolled carbon steel tubing.

All facades were hand painted by our in-house scenic team after being etched and milled by our CNC.

The ARCH crew persevered through installations that coincided with the tail end of Hurricane Ida which brought high winds, heavy rain, and major flooding in the area.—almost shutting down the festival.

The stage was enjoyed by over 8000 festival participants over Labor Day Weekend 2021.
